There is something so true and so simple about a mother’s love for their children. Every time I look at my boys I am filled with so much love for them (even if we happen to be having a disagreement). If I glimpse a freckle on the nose of my youngest, my heart fills with joy, or seeing that smirk on my oldest, again filled to the brim with love! I know Mother’s Day is approaching next month and it will be a bittersweet day in my house. It will be the 3rd year without my mother and the 2nd without my mother-in-law, both wonderful, loving mothers. Of course, I hope to get hugs and kisses from my boys which will help ease some of the loss.
I decided to right this post after reading a wonderful blog about not having to be that “perfect” mom who bakes, sews and creates wonderful things for their kids – they just need to be the “perfect” mom by being their for their kids (The Power of Moms). I loved my mother so much, even if she didn’t bake something every day (or ever) and her only sewing was to help with my ballet slippers. This is a great reminder to take time to be a family – talk, hug, share, love! It all goes by so quickly.
I want to share some of my favorite Mother/child photos I have taken over the past few years, but there is one that I don’t have and so wish I did, a recent one of my mother and me. If you want to capture your own memories with your mother or children book a Mother’s Day photo session with me, don’t wait these photos will be treasured for a lifetime!
Ah, so much love!
Love these photos & your writing…beautiful!
What a wonderful post! My kids are 19 and 16 now and the time went by sooo fast! It truly isn’t about what you do with or for them, it’s the time you invest with them! My favorite images are never the posed family images, it is the intimate candid moments like the ones that you have captured above. Beautiful!
Such a great post and lovely photos. Really makes me stop and think that I should get in front of the camera more with my own children, thank you!
I need to follow my own advice too – I need more pics with my own kids!
Your words are so true, each day is so precious but so fleeting…. You have such a talent for capturing these moments for us to treasure.
so true! these are some great mom and baby shots – I love all the expressions on mom’s face!!
Oh, Amara, those images gave me chills and I just loved reading your post. Sad but true, there comes a time when photographs and memories are all that we have left. Love to you on this Mother’s Day. 🙂
