Ah, something so sweet about getting to spend a few hours with a newborn. The tiny fingers and toes, their little squeaks and noises, makes my job so easy! It is great to be able to photograph newborns not only because I can hold them for a few hours (and then give them back to the parents at the end of the session to go home and see my 10 and 8 year-old boys), but I am able to capture a fleeting moment in their life. These first couple of weeks of life are like no other – they still love to curl up like a ball, the sleep is so deep (sometimes) and complete, and everything is absolutely new and fresh! Often times the parents are too tired to really remember these days but with photographs they can look back in amazement and think, “Really they were this little once?”!
